Some Idea For Healthy Food Making In Healthy Way

July 8th, 2009 Guest Posted in Cooking Comments Off

Cooking may seem easy when you look at it but the truth is it involves a lot of hard work. When you are cooking food, you are not only putting them inside the pan and stirring them, you are also cutting the food, curing the meat and peeling them. The preparation in fact is 50 percent of the whole procedure.

Preparing and cooking the food will take a while to master especially when you don’t have much experience doing it. But you don’t have to take the hard road and learn the lesson the hard way. By heeding these small pieces of advice, you can be cooking and preparing your food the right way and in the easiest possible way.

1. Master the quantity

Measuring tools are actually your best friends next to recipes. They are the ones that will help you achieve the taste that you are looking for. If you use them well, you will be having great tasting food every time. You see, a lot depend on the measurements that you do. Too little salt will make the food bland while too much of it will make the flavor too salty. Too much flour will make the food taste like flour.

The balance that you achieve with your ingredients will help you a lot in coming up with a dish that your family will be able to eat. That is why it is important to invest in good measuring tools like a set of measuring cups and spoons. This is the standard measurements that recipes use and you need these tools to help you put the right amount of ingredients into the dish that you are cooking. You can use ordinary tablespoons and coffee cups but the measurement will
not be the same. Remember that the taste of you dish will depend on the precision of your measurements.

2. After ingredients measurement you should follow time and follow all the instructions for the recipe. Pay close attention to the time that is often indicated in the recipes. If it says 15 minutes, then let it simmer for 15 minutes. No more, no less. You cannot just stop the procedure just because you feel like it. The time is there for a reason and unless you are a sous chef, you cannot just change it at your will.

To ensure that you are following the procedures to the letter especially with the time, put a timer near you. Use the ones that you can set to alarm after a number of minutes. That way, you will be reminded of the time. If you do not have a timer, then a clock is a good alternative. If it alarms, better. If not, then you should just rely on your memory.

3. Never take alternative ingredients in place right ingredients. This will only complicate the process and also the taste. Although the ingredients may seem the same, the end result may not be as each gives different texture and taste. For instance, substituting one part of a beef, for instance a sirloin to a shank, to another is not a good idea. They may be both beef but sirloins are a lot leaner as compared to the shank which may have fats in between the meat. The oil from these fats may interfere with your flavoring.

Would It Help You To Save Time In The Kitchen?

Because most people are quite busy, they often don’t have much time to spend in the kitchen preparing meals. t’s much better to prepare foods at home, hower, as they are usually much better for you than pre-prepared food or fast food.

Saving time in the kitchen is one way to make it easier to prepare meals at home. Two of the best time savers in the kitchen ironically use cooking methods at opposite ends of the speed spectrum. One cooks very slow, and one cooks very fast.

#1 Way To Save Time Cooking – The Slow Cooker

Slow cookers are electrical countertop appliances that come in varying sizes. Crock-Pot is actually a trademark name for a specific brand of slow cooker, although the term slow cooker and Crock-Pot are often used interchangeably.

A slow cooker, as the name implies, cooks foods slowly. However, it is still a great time saver. Put the ingredients for your main dish or an entire meal in the slow cooker in the morning before you start your other work for the day, and that evening you’ll have a meal ready and waiting.

To save even more time the next morning, prepare the ingredients the evening before, so they’ll be ready to put in the slow cooker.

#2 Saver Of Time – The Pressure Cooker

Pressure cookers are back in style, and they have many more features than the old models of the 80’s. They are much easier to use and much safer. Pressure cookers look similar to other kitchen pots but the lid makes all the difference. Since the lid completely seals the pot, the contents of the pot build up steam and boil easily. The cooking time is much shorter because the steam under pressure is at higher temperatures. Even if it sounds somewhat complicated, it’s actually very easy to use.

The best pressure cookers are made of a sturdy metal that conducts heat well. Models like the Presto Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker have a good looking finish with a bi-metal clad base that provides great conduction for cooking. There are various sizes for pressure cookers, from 4 to 8 quart sizes. The 6 quart size is a popular choice for families, and may be the best pressure cooker for you too.

If it’s time to eat and you haven’t got a thing ready, the pressure cooker can help you cook something in a short time, sometimes even faster than a microwave. It has the added advantage of keeping the vitamins and other nutrients intact, while sealing in juices and flavors.

You Deserve A Break Today, So Save Time Cooking In YOUR Kitchen

Make fixing good food easier than ever before. Consider buying these time savers if you don’t already have them in your kitchen. Start saving time in the kitchen by choosing the best pressure cooker and slow cooker you can find for your needs.

The Eternal Barbecue Question: Gas or Charcoal?

July 3rd, 2009 Guest Posted in Cooking Comments Off

Which is better when it comes to a barbecue grill – gas or charcoal? People have been arguing this point for many years. Each has its pros and cons, and people are often fiercely loyal to their chosen method of grilling. But if you’re just starting out with barbeque cooking and trying to decide which to buy, here’s a look at what each has to offer.

Gas

* Quick. In just 10 minutes, the grill is ready.

* You can easily control the heat. It gives you the flexibility of pacing the cooking. Sometimes you need to cook something over low heat for an extended period, and other times it needs to be at a higher temperature for less time. With gas, it’s easy to handle these things.

* Versatile. You can use the gas burner on the side to cook some vegetables, and the rotisserie attachment is ideal for slow cooking a roast.

* Flavor. Some people don’t like the flavor of food prepared on a gas grill. Plus, you won’t get the aromatic flavor of wood smoke that you will with a charcoal flame.

* Easy cleaning. There are no ashes to clean up. A tray to catch the drippings handles most of the cleaning, and you can increase the heat for several minutes in order to burn off the remains so that they can be more easily removed.

* Cost effective. You can get eight hours of grilling out of a single propane tank.

* The initial cost may be high; however there is a wide range of prices to suit any budget.

* It may prove to be more cost effective in the long run especially if taken good care of, but this depends on the changing prices of gas.

Charcoal

* The flavor and aroma of wood smoking can’t be matched.

* The purchase price is pretty reasonable initially, but over the long term it might be less so.

* They’re slow, both to get started and throughout the cooking. From the time the briquettes are lit and have burned down enough to start cooking, 40 minutes have probably gone by. This won’t work for the times when you have a sudden desire to barbeque.

* Timing is critical. There’s no way to regulate the heat, so it’s important that you watch your food carefully while it’s cooking.

* If you barbeque a lot, the expense of charcoal briquettes can really add up.

* Cleaning out ashes is a tedious job. You have to let the grate cool down completely before you can clean it, and it’s a tough job.

Hopefully you’ll find these BBQ tips useful in your choice of charcoal or gas. Pick the one that fits both your lifestyle and your budget. Those who lead busy lives might prefer a gas barbeque because they require less time in order to fully cook a meal. However, if you have some time on your hands, you can’t beat the flavor that charcoal gives.
